New Star

A few weeks ago I went to a new Chinese restaurant. I had been going to the same place for nearly twenty years. But the cook had changed and the food was lackluster, it just wasn’t the same. So on the way back from a road trip I stopped by New Star.

Located on North Avenue in Chicago, New Star offers Chinese food, Sushi, Tai food and Hibachi. We sat down and decided to get egg rolls and spring rolls. The rice paper they used on the spring rolls was thicker than I’m used to but they were still light and tasted good. The egg rolls we great a little different but very flavorful and crispy.

For the mains I ordered orange chicken and combination fried rice. The chicken was fresh and not thick or overly sauced. I was happy from the first bite. The shrimp on the combination fried rice was smaller than I would have liked but it was delicious. I was happy with the portion sizes and had plenty left to take home. I really enjoyed the food and will definitely go back again. Good Chinese food always makes me happy and I’d love to try more of their dishes.
